Lesbian colours

A few months ago I was reading a book about lesbian weddings and commitment ceremonies. A whole range of couples talked about planning and executing their ceremonies, and it was interesting to see how every couple takes a different approach, incorporating elements of the traditional and non-traditional to suit their style. One thing that bothered me, though, was a particular couple who described how they decorated their house for the ceremony in 'Lesbian colours'. Not just lesbian colours, folks, but capital-L Lesbian colours.

At the time, I asked Heather, 'What are Lesbian colours?'

Neither of us knew, but we guessed that purple was involved. Surely if the couple meant 'rainbow colours', they would say so. And besides, the rainbow symbols are not specifically lesbian colours, but indicate GLBTI stuff more generally. So what are these Lesbian colours?

Just now, I just did a google search for 'lesbian colors' and also the Australian spelling, 'colours'. One result was for a site called 'Wet Lesbian', which contains the phrase: 'Their main wet lesbian colors wet lesbian are wet lesbian dark blue and black wet lesbian'. Although very interesting, this didn't solve my dilemma. 'Mature lesbian colors' came up in the curiously-named Very-Older-Pussy dot com. (Doubtful that the site would enlighten me, I didn't click on the link.)

Intriguing as all of this may be, I still do not know what Lesbian colours are.

I would really appreciate it if any of my lovely readers can help me out here. Firstly, what are Lesbian colours? (Even if you don't know, make a suggestion. Live a little.) Secondly, if Heather and I have a colour theme for our wedding celebrations, what Lesbian colours should we use?

I guess it's more accurately associated with feminism, but do they mean purple?

Yes, perhaps, snurb. Kylie tells me that, actually, purple and green are the colours of feminism, or of the suffrage movement, anyway (she learned this by watching Mary Poppins).

So perhaps they mean purple and green?

Down in Northampton, MA, a.k.a. Lesbianville, USA, it seems the colors are lavender and black. Like the pink triangle signifies gay men, the lavender triangle seems to signify lesbians. Not very wedding-esque colors, though. Imagine a lavender and black cake, yuck! Might as well invite Prince to the wedding.

Heva, many thanks for pointing me to your lovely lady's marvelous blog. It helps me keep up with a friend I miss very much. Michelle, I admire your courage in laying this out for all to read, and your obvious love for Heather comforts my heart; that she has found someone who loves her as much as she deserves. So happy for you both. See you in November!

Thanks, Kimmie! Heather is looking forward to seeing you, and I am looking forward to meeting you!

And you're right: I think we can skip the lavender and black cake.

I am bisexual, and from what i've noticed gay guys dont really wear purple very often (unless they wear it where you cant see it) they seem to wear hot pink and black. The girls that have hit on me before have said that the lesbian colors depend on what kind of person your interested in. I tend to wear black and blue. Another bisexual girl said im probably interested in "cute" girls (soft face, have big breasts, and a little shy) or "hot" girls(girls who arent afraid to do what they feel and dont care if people know their gay/bisexual but arent going to announce it to everybody either). I dont know how true this is but I hope it helps.

The colours which are normally liked by or tend to increase the lesbian sexual play are called lesbian colours. In Kama-Sutra( Hindi word- Sanskrit orgin- Word meaning- Sex tips), the book said to be written by sex gurus in the historic period in India, It clearly discribes the different colour themes, dress codes to arouse sexual feeling in the felow mates. A combination of dark green and meroon red or parrot green and brownish purple are said to attact girls to each other.

I am an Industrial Designer student and as part of my project I am designing a product which will be present at lesbian wedding. My product is pretty much resolved but I am also wondering if any colours are important.

My design brief says that the product will have neutral colours as it will be presented on the wedding tables.

I would also like to get some feedback.

I don't know how people survived before internet! :-)
